IN TRIBUTE: Perry Garrett
One of the longtime supporters of the NCC, Perry Garrett, died on January 17th, 2008, after a valiant fight with cancer. Perry was a writer and director who always was there to help. Whether it was making his weekend short films, or pitching & analyzing scripts, or at his jobs with Universal Studios, he was one of the sweetest and most encouraging guys Hollywood has ever known. He was a regular and popular guest at the Salons, and and inspiration to all of us. We will miss you, Perry!
CARSON SCHOOL DEDICATION
Dedication events for the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film happened at UNL October 12-14, with the grand- reopening of the newly restored Temple Building, Howell Theatre, new black box theatre and film stage.

A full report on the events, with photos of the new Temple, will be part of the NCC Salon in November.

Monday July 14, 2008  Guest: Jon Kelley of The Mole and Extra
Looking forward to seeing you at the next Hollywood Salon on July 14th.

Our guest will be the NCC's own Host of Hollywood, JON KELLEY of THE MOLE and EXTRA.

Since he last guested with us, Jon has taken over the hosting duties at THE MOLE from CNN's Anderson Cooper. This hit ABC reality show is playing now, and keeping America guessing all summer. (You can see the latest episodes and read Jon's host blog on the abc.com website).

For six years, Jon was the weekend anchor and reporter for EXTRA at Warner Bros. Before that were gigs for many FOX Sports shows and as a player for the Denver Broncos. But before all his illustrious Hollywood career, he was a Cornhusker football player, a UNL broadcast journalism student, and a native of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Come help us celebrate Jon's new job, and maybe get a few secrets of making it in the biz from a great Nebraskan and a classy guy. The Salon is Monday, July 14th.

The Hollywood Salon is held on the Second Monday of each month in the Cafe at CBS-TV, at Beverly & Fairfax in Los Angeles. 7:30 to 10:30pm.

Security Rules at CBS: You must RSVP on the hotline (213) 368-4NCC by 3pm on the Monday of the Salon each month. If you are a Champion or attended the Salon LAST MONTH ONLY, you are already on the list and do not need to call.

Map to CBS here.

Park in the lot off Fairfax south of Beverly and enter at the Artist's Entrance. Follow the green signs up to the 1st Floor, and off the elevator past the stages to the Cafe. Just $5 covers refreshments, parking and your chance at great Nebraska prizes.

Voiceover Coaching Intensive with Mari Weiss
ave you ever wondered about making it in Voiceover? Now's your chance. Our regular Salon guest Mari Weiss will be teaching her next One-Day Voice Intensive on several Sundays through 2008.
Her class puts you in the studio with tons of copy and a working professional who wants you to find your strengths, your range, YOUR voice. If you are new to voice-over, you will learn mic techniques and get a feel for what's it like being in the booth. If you are not so new but not booking, here's a chance to really play and learn another way to approach copy and your reads.
The fee of $160 includes lunch and copies of your work (NCCers get 10% off!) Class size is only ten, so sign up before it fills up! For details, go to mariweiss.com

MECONN BBQ on July 27th
CCers are cordially invited to attend the Midwest Entertainment Connection's annual summer BBQ Party on Saturday, July 27th.

This year it's at Pan Pacific Park (right near CBS & The Grove) from 2 to 6pm. MECONN (formerly the Kansas Connection) will provide meat, chips & sodas for only $5. Bring a side dish to share. And a frisbee, if you want. Details at www.meconn.org.
