february 1998 guest
Brad Colerick partner Pfeiffer Music founder Back 9 Records When it comes to writing and producing in the music business, if you missed the February Hollywood Salon, you missed a great success story about a really nice guy. After studying business with a minor in music, Brad Colerick launched into the commercial business with John Baylor & Associates and wrote a spot for that beloved Mid-western steakhouse chain Bonanza. In 1984, Brad continued working on the local scene doing music for commercials including one for the Nebraska Bookstore that had a play life much longer than Brad ever anticipated; you may still be able to catch it today! After feeling he had accomplished all he could professionally in Nebraska, Brad ventured to LA and has now gone from spots for the Nebraska Bookstore to producing national spots for Coke, McDonalds and Sears. In 1997 Brad recorded Shawn Colvin, and legends Johnny Cash and B.B. King for his Sears spot Always looking for new creative outlets, Brad recently partnered with Omaha based, Gold Circle Entertainment to form Back 9 Records. Back 9 Records has just released its first albums, Bob Cheevers, Gettysburg to Graceland and David Grow, WELL. When asked why the name "Back 9" Brad admitted it was his fanaticism about golf that led to the choice. In closing Brad shared that perhaps one of the most difficult things about being from Nebraska is the nickname "Huskers". Brad's wife, not a native, always thought the term was "Huckster", so if you should ever meet her and she refers to you as on of those "Hucksters", you're not alone. Thanks to Brad for his time and the CD's he previewed for us. --Craig Cleaver So, you're tired of sitting around waiting for the phone to ring.
