So, you're tired of sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. Let's face it, it's not what you know, it's WHO you know, so why don't you come get to know us? The Hollywood Salon is movers and shakers, celebs and wanna-be celebs getting together over a beer and a memory of a faraway place.

We're not all Nebraskans - some of us just like to hang out with Nebraskans - but we're all part of the magic of Hollywood. Join us at 7:30 on the SECOND Monday of every month at the Culver Hotel, 9400 Culver Blvd. (@ Washington Blvd.) in Culver City, California 90232.

Just ten bucks Just TEN bucks...includes one drink and a raffle ticket for fabulous Nebraska prizes. (Ten bucks too much? volunteer some time to the NCC and get in free.) There is a fully stocked bar, with cocktails, draft beers and good wines. ÊThere is also a great restaurant at the hotel serving wonderful appetizers and full meals (you can eat early in the lobby/bar or bring your food up into the Salon conference room).

There's a VIP guest almost every month--check out the list of recent ones and see who you've been missing. You'll have a chance to share your news and needs in our Show and Tell. But the best part is all the friends you'll meet--old friends and new friends. Most of them will know where you come from. And all of them are bigwigs (or tomorrow's bigwigs) in Hollywood.

Call the hotline - 213.368.4NCC Call the hotline: 213-368-4NCC to RSVP. ÊWe would like to hear from you by NOON on the Salon Monday please.

ARE YOU HOLLYWOOD SALONING? Hollywood can be a daunting place for newcomers. And all of us in this volatile business, even the established ones, are either looking for work or just a hairbreadth away from needing to. Showbiz is a relationship game.

Every month, the Hollywood Salon provides a kind of fertile field for growing relationships: Chris discovered that Kate sitting across the room was her old babysitter. Sarah came to her first Hollywood Salon only to connect with two old dance classmates. One Hollywood Salon had three people who all were natives of Kearney--they met for the first time that night in Hollywood. Kirk only has made it once, but he came to the one that his old long-lost college buddy Kelly attended. Roxane turned out to be the sister of a musician Todd worked with in summerstock. Sean's gotten all three of his jobs through people at the Salons. Lisa and Chet met there and got married.

Nebraskans seem to be drawn together like a magnet.

Are these weird coincidences? I'm starting to think not. These are examples of what happens when you put a little effort into reaching out. Give a little energy, get out of the way, and stuff comes back to you in spades. NCC gives us the opportunity for growing coincidences. The space for new contacts, new ideas, new energy. Give a little, get a little back.

And the Hollywood Salon is only the beginning. The really terrific relationships and job contacts and friendships have happened with the people who meet for lunch later, or exchange email addresses, or work together on NCC events. Actors and writers have been meeting to read new material together. Producers and development execs are meeting with screenwriters. Several short films are in the works with NCC-grown ideas and NCC-crews. A lot of the Salon and event volunteers are now fast friends.
